ST KILDA forward Jade Gresham remains on restricted duties as he works back to full fitness following a knee injury sustained in round one.

Despite returning to full running late in the shutdown period, the 22-year-old completed half of Wednesday's two-hour contact session at RSEA Park.

The Saints are confident he's on track to tackle the Western Bulldogs in the season restart on June 14 and will increase his training loads on Friday.

Midfielder Jack Steele, who has finished on the podium in the past two best and fairests, remains sidelined after an arthroscope on his right wrist on Monday.

He is still hopeful of returning to full contact training next week and taking his place to face to the Dogs.

Ruckman Paddy Ryder wasn't sighted on Wednesday and was managed after a big session on Monday but is expected to train on Friday.

Ben Long, who injured his ankle in the season-opener, trained fully, while Jake Carlisle has recovered from the back injury that sidelined him in the loss to North Melbourne 10 weeks ago.

Apart from defender Darragh Joyce (hamstring tendon), the Saints are nearing full fitness approaching the resumption of games.
