COLLINGWOOD has confirmed its interest in Brisbane Lions midfielder Jack Redden as it seeks adequate compensation for the likely loss of Dayne Beams.
The Lions and the Magpies have reached a stalemate, with both unwilling to compromise on their existing offers.
Magpies football manager Rodney Eade said on Tuesday that NAB AFL Draft pick No. 4 in exchange for the 24-year-old Beams was not enough.
It is understood the club is demanding one of Redden, James Aish, Sam Mayes, Pearce Hanley or Dayne Zorko in addition to the Lions' first-round draft pick.
"If Dayne Beams does go we obviously want compensation for that, like for like, a dollar for a dollar," Eade said on Tuesday.
"We've got a player who finished 15th in the Brownlow after missing three or four games so you'd think he's in the top 10 midfielders (in the competition).
"It's become public [that] what we've put on the table is a draft pick and one of five or six players."
He confirmed that Redden was one of those players, but the midfielder is off limits according to Lions coach Justin Leppitsch.
In response to a Lions fan's question on Twitter about whether Redden will be at the club in 2015, Leppitsch tweeted, "Reddo going nowhere".
Meanwhile, Collingwood is closing in on luring North Melbourne onballer Levi Greenwood to the Westpac Centre.
Eade said the Magpies' end of season review recognised the need to add another hard body in the midfield to help ease the strain on captain Scott Pendlebury.

"You'd have a really experienced midfield who could find the ball for us … Greenwood's this year was a fantastic season."
Eade had no update on the progress of Heritier Lumumba's proposed trade to Melbourne.
