THERE has been good news for Hawthorn from the Match Review Panel, with both Luke Hodge and Jarryd Roughead free to play in Friday night's clash with West Coast at Etihad Stadium.

However, Hodge will have to accept a reprimand and 93.75 carryover points for a high bump on Carlton's Lachie Henderson if he wishes to line up against the Eagles.

The collision between Hodge and Henderson was the only incident to draw a penalty from the MRP.

Hodge's initial sanction was a one-match suspension, but he can have it reduced to a reprimand if he lodges an early guilty plea.

The Hawthorn skipper's collision with Carlton captain Marc Murphy during the same game was also looked at, but Hodge was cleared of any wrongdoing.

Although the incident left Murphy with a fractured cheekbone, the panel ruled that Hodge "had no realistic alternative way to contest the ball".

Roughead's bump on Blues midfielder Kade Simpson was scrutinised by the MRP, but it was decided that "no significant high contact was made".

In addition, the panel looked at contact between Fremantle's Stephen Hill and Brisbane Lion Andrew Raines, which occurred during the second quarter of Saturday's game at Patersons Stadium.

It was decided that "the force used was below that required to constitute a reportable offence".
