GEELONG has opted to rest recruit Jack Steven off a five-day break for Thursday night's date with Brisbane at the SCG. 

After three straight games at his new club, the former Saint will be replaced by Sam Simpson for his first AFL match since round 17, 2018.

Having spent the week in Sydney, the Cats will depart for a minimum three-week stint in Perth following the match, while the Lions will remain in Sydney before facing Greater Western Sydney.
