The AFL and our State and Territory affiliates provide a wide range of services and support to primary and secondary schools throughout Australia. Our development network extends across 93 regions (39 Metropolitan & 54 country) and is serviced by over 200 full and part time staff.The AFL development network, in collaboration with participating schools and supportive teachers, facilitates and delivers a wide variety of fun and safe Australian Football programs designed to engage students in physical activity and develop fundamental motor skills. It is through such programs students develop positive physical, social and behavioural skills, which have a positive impact on academic achievement.Total football participation in 2005 was 539,526.
