Alipate Carlile (South)
Kicks 9 / Marks 8 / Handballs 6 / Goals 0 / Tackles 3

Just three weeks ago Alipate Carlile was named the Cibo Glenelg SANFL Power Player of the Week. Showing consistency is now a part of his game, Power development coach Darren Trevena has once again granted Carlile that title after a strong display for South against Central on Sunday.

“I think right now his mental aspect is really good. I think he has worked on his preparation before matches and I think that’s making him a more consistent player,” Trevena said.

“He had three different opponents on him throughout the match and I think he didn’t have a goal kicked on him for the game. Some have been leading, some have been marking and he adjusted to all of them.

“He is being a bit more pro-active with his attack on the ball.”

While Carlile took the gong this week as the Cibo Glenelg SANFL Power Player of the Week, there were still a number of players making sure they kept their names in the selection mix.

Here’s how Trevena rated their games…

Greg Bentley (Sturt)
K 21 / M 14 / H 3 / G 1 / T 4
“Greg was excellent again and unlucky not to get player of the round. He was very solid off a half-back flank and on-ball. He picked up plenty of possessions and he was very good in assisting Sturt to their victory over Port.”

Adam Thomson (Sturt)
K 12 / M 6 / H 8 / G 1 / T 1
“Adam had a solid game with clean hands but he probably wasn’t up to the benchmark that he’d set in previous weeks. His game was nothing super but he did what was expected of him. He still showed clean hands and used the ball really well.”

Fabian Deluca (Sturt)
K 2 / M 0 / HB 2 / G 0 / T 0 / HO 13
“Deluca was good in the ruck and he hunted the ball as well. He needs to work on his handball receives and his marking around the ground.”

Nathan Lonie (North Adelaide)
K 17 / M 4 / HB 6 / G 0 / T 2
“Lonie was excellent. He worked hard through the middle and off his wing. His carry and use was very good and he was one of the reasons they (North Adelaide) got into and won the game.”

Gavin Grose (North Adelaide)
K 8 / M 3 / HB 1 / G 0 / T 3
“It was Gavin’s first game in the league side since Round 2. He had about nine spoils and took a nice mark. He got to the contest and showed some good courage as well. He was very good.”

Nathan Batsanis (Eagles)
K 8 / M 1 / HB 4 / G 0 / T 3
“Nathan probably wasn’t up to the standards that he set in previous weeks. He got a little bit of the ball and used it nicely in the last quarter, with some nice delivery inside 50 but it probably wasn’t enough possessions compared to past weeks.”

Paul Stewart (Eagles)
K 5 / M 1 / HB 5 / G 0 / T 1
“Paul showed courage at times. He spoiled and tackled well but he needs to keep developing his game. His last two weeks have probably been a bit down so we just need to get him up again.”

Tom Logan (Glenelg)
K 14 / M 9 / HB 11 / G 2 / T 4
“Tom had another good game and ran the game out well coming back from injury. He was a little bit rusty at times but did what we expected after a bit of a lay off.”

Ryan Willits (West Adelaide)
K 6 / M 4 / HB 0 / G 1 / T 0
“Ryan was starved of possessions but when it did come down he did ok, but there wasn’t enough ball coming down his way.”

Jonathan Giles (Central)
K 4 / M 2 / HB 5 / G 0 / T 0 / HO 7
“Jonathan’s first half was average but his third quarter was quite good which was probably a turning point for Central to get more of the ball. He was tried up forward at times but had little effect. His ruck work was good.”

Peter Hardy (Sturt reserves)
“He had another solid game. Probably not quite as good as last week but still a very good game and now he’s put two good games together on end”

Alex Lee (Sturt reserves)
“It was probably his best game for the year. He kicked three goals and had plenty of it. Hopefully it’s a turning point for him and he needs to keep putting these games together. It was good to see him turn the corner.”

Ryan Williams (Central reserves)
“He was excellent in the reserves and he had 30 possessions, so it was a very good game playing on ball. Another couple of games like that and he’ll be pushing for senior selection at Centrals. It was a very good game by Ryan.”
