HIGH-FLYING forward Aaron Edwards has re-signed with North Melbourne for 2012 after registering a career-high 36 goals and 19 games this season.

Edwards finished as North's second-highest goalkicker in 2011, behind All-Australian Drew Petrie (48 goals), and was also second at the club in marks (116).

He booted six goals against Melbourne in round eight and five against Gold Coast in round 12.

North Melbourne's chief of football Donald McDonald told kangaroos.com.au the club had been pleased with Edwards' attitude this season and his ability to adjust his playing style.

"We rated his work ethic and commitment extremely highly and we were particularly pleased with his ability to adapt and change his game style under [coach] Brad [Scott]," McDonald said.

In five seasons at North Melbourne, Edwards has played 73 games and kicked 107 goals, and McDonald is confident he can continue to improve.

"We think there's lots of room for improvement in Aaron and his best footy is still ahead of him. There's no reason to think he won't live up to that potential," McDonald said.
