COLLINGWOOD'S Josh Fraser may get the opportunity to play his 200th AFL game after the tribunal upheld a striking charge against utility Leigh Brown on Tuesday night.

Brown and the Magpies conceded he had made high contact at low impact on Adelaide's Graham Johncock but argued that the contact was negligent rather than reckless.

The jury of Wayne Henwood, Richard Loveridge and Wayne Schimmelbusch took less than 10 minutes to dismiss Brown’s claim and he will now miss Collingwood's round 22 match against Hawthorn.

Brown argued he lost balance as he tried to change direction to avoid making contact with Johncock as the Crows’ defender disposed of the ball.

He said his arm made a natural movement to counter his balance, which connected with Johncock’s head.

The Magpies also presented the Crows’ medical report, which stated Johncock had suffered no injury as a result of the incident.

But, AFL legal counsel Jeff Gleeson convinced the jury Brown’s actions were more reckless than negligent and the initial penalty of 170 demerit points - equating to a one-game sanction and 70 carry-over points - should stand.

Brown and club chief of football operations Geoff Walsh declined to comment as they left the tribunal.
