For the second year in a row, the Toyota AFL Mark and Goal of the Year awards have been extended to include the 2006 Toyota AFL Finals Series.

The expert panel and public have voted on nominations over the season and determined 22 weekly winners in each category to be considered for the overall award - another 3 winners in each category will be added to this list over the first three weeks of the finals.

Each year, the final decision on the winning mark and goal is made by the AFL All Australian Selection committee amongst their other duties.

The overall winner of the Toyota AFL Mark and Goal of the Year awards will be announced on Network TEN’s ‘Grand Final Day at the MCG’ program on 2006 Toyota AFL Grand Final Day.

The yearly winner of the Toyota AFL Mark and Goal of the Year awards will receive:
- A crystal replica of the official, perpetual Toyota AFL Mark of the Year and Toyota AFL Goal of the Year trophies, presented by the AFL and Toyota;
- The Alex Jesaulenko Medal (mark) and Phil Manassa Medal (goal), presented by Toyota;
- The use of a Toyota Aurion for 12 months and
- $10,000 for their grassroots Club, also presented by Toyota
