NORTH Melbourne tall forward Lachie Hansen's dissatisfaction with the Roos' contract offer has brought his name to the fore during the Gillette AFL Trade Period, which began at Etihad Stadium on Monday.

Damian Barrett said on Gillette AFL Trade Radio that there has been talk surrounding Hansen since the end of the season.

"He's out of contract," Barrett said. "There is an offer in front of him from North Melbourne, but it's not substantial and it's one that he's wavering on.

"As these meetings go on between clubs today, his name will be bounced around.

"I won't say he's being shopped around, but clubs are certainly aware that if they want Lachie Hansen he's there to get."

Hansen's standing rose in 2012 despite the fact that he was unable to break into the team until the match against Adelaide in round 13.

The 24-year-old combined with fellow tall forwards Drew Petrie and Robbie Tarrant to form a potent attacking combination during the second half of the season.

Hansen kicked 20 goals during the final 12 games, including a haul of four against Carlton in round 16, but he had a poor match during the heavy loss to West Coast in North's elimination final.
