The Brisbane Lions AFC has appointed a new General Manager of Football Operations.

The Club is pleased to announce that Dean Warren has accepted this position and will commence with the Lions on November 15th.

Dean comes to the Lions after 22 years with the Australian Football League where he has held a number of roles, including his most recent position as the National Community and Participation Manager.

Brisbane Lions Chairman Angus Johnson said that the Club is delighted to have secured Dean as the new GM of Football Operations.

"Dean has great experience in the AFL, both as an administrator and as the National Community and Participation Manager for the past seven years," Johnson said.

"This is an extremely important position and we are very confident that Dean will do a fantastic job."

Dean has an in-depth knowledge of football operations and is also well-known to the Queensland AFL community. He is a member of the Queensland Australian Football Hall of Fame, and has played 170 games in the QAFL.

"Having worked at the AFL for a long period of time, it will be exciting to work for the Brisbane Lions and focus on football operations at a Club level," Dean said.

"I have great respect for what the Lions have achieved over the past decade and I am eager to hit the ground running in preparation for season 2011 and beyond to ensure that we remain one of the most successful Clubs in the AFL."

Dean's appointment comes following an extensive recruitment process for this crucial role within the football department, Johnson said.

"This is one of a number of significant recent appointments that will put the Brisbane Lions in a position to achieve success both on and off field," Johnson said.

"Members, supporters and corporate partners can rest assured that the Board will leave no stone unturned in striving to be the best at everything we do."
