Dylan Grimes is set to become the 12th Richmond first gamer for the 2010 season after being picked to play in Sunday’s final home and away match against Port Adelaide.
The 19-year-old from the Northern Knights is also the 42nd player used by the Tigers this season - the highest number recorded by the Club in more than 20 years.
It was also the most by any club since Sydney used 43 players in the 1993 season, and Richmond's 12 debutants is the most used by any club since Fitzroy in 1991 (13 debutants).
Grimes was selected by Richmond with its first pick (number 2 overall) in the 2009 Pre Season Draft, after being considered unlucky to have been overlooked in the National Draft.
The brother of Melbourne’s Jack, Grimes has shown steady improvement while playing for Richmond’s VFL affiliate, Coburg.
After starting the season in Coburg reserves, he earned a senior place in June, and was named as Coburg’s best player in last week’s loss to North Ballarat, prompting the Richmond coaching staff to reward him with an AFL debut.
