NORM Smith medallist Brian Lake faces double trouble when the AFL Match Review Panel looks at the Grand Final.

The Hawthorn key defender collected Fremantle forward Michael Walters with an elbow to the head during Saturday's bruising clash.

There are double demerit points for Grand Final incidents and Lake is one of three players from the match who could have delayed starts to next season.

Teammate Cyril Rioli will also come under scrutiny for his "chicken wing" tackle on Freo midfielder Michael Barlow.

Hawks legend Leigh Matthews has no doubt that Rioli is in trouble for the incident.

Rioli brought Barlow's arm up behind the back of the Fremantle player.

"I think Cyril will get time for that," Matthews told Channel Seven's Game Day.

"When you see the replay, he really did pull his arm up his back.

"He'll get some weeks for that, I suspect."

The third player in trouble is Fremantle's Nick Suban, who grabbed the face of Hawthorn star Sam Mitchell as they grappled on the ground.

As expected, it was a fierce and physical Grand Final as the Hawks managed to out-do Fremantle for pressure.

But there was very little of the predicted aggression.

Much of the build-up had focused on Dockers tagger Ryan Crowley and what Hawthorn might do to negate his role.

Crowley kept Mitchell to only 12 possessions, but there were no major incidents involving the two players.
