WESTERN Bulldogs midfielder Lin Jong was allegedly the target of racial slurs during Saturday's Bulldogs-Tigers clash at the MCG.

The Melbourne Cricket Club and AFL have both confirmed a complaint was made and Victoria Police attended the incident, but no further action was taken.

Richmond chief executive Brendon Gale said the club would not tolerate vilification in any form.

"As a club, we take any suggestion of racist behaviour very seriously, and we followed it up accordingly," Gale said in a statement on Sunday.

"While no action was taken in this case, it is a reminder that any such behaviour is totally unacceptable.

"Lin Jong is a fine young player and we should be celebrating the diversity he brings to our game."

Jong, 21, is the first AFL footballer of East Timorese and Taiwanese descent and was recruited by the Bulldogs with pick No.9 in the 2012 rookie draft.

In a separate incident on Saturday, a Bulldogs supporter was evicted from the area in which the club's cheer squad was seated for allegedly making homophobic comments.

"As is normal process, we've passed on that person's details to the AFL," MCC communications manager Shane Brown told AFL.com.au.

Richmond confirmed a Tigers player identified the Bulldogs fan at the centre of the remarks.

The Western Bulldogs said it had also been made aware of the incident.

"The club has a code of conduct established for its members, which prohibits such behaviour and it expects all Western Bulldogs members and fans abide by the principles stated in that code, as a condition of membership," the Bulldogs said in a statement.

"The club has sought and is awaiting further information from the AFL in relation to the incident."

The Bulldogs were involved in two separate instances of inappropriate supporter behaviour last season.

In May, club president Peter Gordon issued an apology after a fan hurled a racial slur at indigenous Melbourne defender Neville Jetta in the round seven match.

In round 22, a 70-year-old supporter was ejected from Etihad Stadium, fined and had his membership revoked after he racially abused indigenous Sydney Swans players Adam Goodes and Lance Franklin.
