THE cream rose to the top in Round 10 of the rebel VFLW competition, with four stars making their move in the Coaches Player of the Year award.

Southern Saints gun Hannah Stuart produced another leading turn to earn her second 10-vote haul of the season after picking up 24 disposals, five inside-50s and 10 tackles in her team’s hard-fought win over Williamstown, making it seven straight matches with at least 20 touches in a game as she took a two-vote lead at the top of the table.

Reigning Lambert-Pearce medallist Georgia Nanscawen has not received a perfect score but has also not been out of the votes in any of her eight matches, recording her second nine-vote tally for her 29 possessions, six marks, six clearances, five inside-50s and six tackles in Essendon’s comfortable defeat of Western Bulldogs to climb into outright second spot.

And outstanding Geelong pair Laura Gardiner and Paige Sheppard charged into third and fourth after gaining 10 and eight votes respectively against Port Melbourne – Gardiner for her astonishing 49 disposals, six marks, 10 clearances and 11 inside-50s and Sheppard for 27 touches, six marks, six clearances and a goal.

Two other players joined Stuart and Gardiner in polling perfect 10s in Round 10 – North Melbourne’s Annabel Scott for 22 disposals, seven marks and a goal against Carlton and Collingwood’s Elisabeth Jackson for 26 possessions, five marks and nine clearances against Darebin.

As with the AFL Coaches Association Player of the Year, the VFLW award is voted on by the coaches of each club after every game in both competitions.

The coaches are awarding 5-4-3-2-1 to their best players in the game from either team, with those votes collated and revealed each week on vfl.com.au.

Another 10 new players attracted the coaches’ attention for the first time in Round 10, making it 208 who have polled votes for the season.
