GREATER Western Sydney has reaffirmed its faith in key defender Tim Mohr, re-signing him for another two seasons.

Mohr has not played a senior game this season after a frustrating run with injury that saw him break a bone in his foot in December and undergo minor knee surgery last month.

But AFL.com.au understands the 25-year-old re-signed with GWS to the end of 2016 this week, having impressed the Giants with his professional approach to his rehabilitation.

Mohr returned to the field with the Giants' NEAFL team two weeks ago and is likely to be considered for senior selection this week.

Mohr was recruited by the Giants as a mature-age VFL recruit at the end of 2011, having just won the Casey Scorpions' best and fairest award.

He made an immediate impact in the Giants' debut season, 2012, playing 13 of their first 14 games before groin soreness derailed his year.

Last season, Mohr established himself as a key member in the Giants' defence, playing every game and manning some of the competition's best power forwards.

He was rewarded with a 10th-place finish in the Giants' best and fairest award.

Mohr represented Tasmania in the under-18 national championships and played for the state’s short-lived VFL team before moving to Melbourne to further his football career.
