CHRIS Scott is set to become Geelong's longest serving coach, having signed with the club for a further two years.
The deal, which has been all but agreed for some time, was finally confirmed by the Cats on Friday.
It ties Scott to the club until the end of the 2024 season.
Scott took over as coach in 2011, winning a premiership in his first season in charge, and has a 69 per cent winning record from 271 games at the helm.
The new deal will see the 46-year-old surpass Reg Hickey's long-standing record of 304 games as coach.
"I don't think there's much doubt that Chris is one of the best coaches in our game and we're really pleased to have him here in Geelong," Cats chief executive Steve Hocking said.
"We've seen an almost complete turnover in our list over the last decade without access to the top of the draft and we've remained competitive year in, year out.
"Chris has been a significant part of that, continuing to unlock excellence, and his record speaks for itself."
Geelong's win over Port Adelaide last week was Scott's 185th as coach, passing Hickey's record of 184 wins set from 1932 to 1959.

The Cats will start favourites to add another victory to Scott's record when they host Adelaide at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday.
And they will unleash their fourth debutant of the year with 19-year-old Shannon Neale coming for injured speedster Gary Rohan.
The 202cm tall was taken with pick No.33 in the 2020 NAB AFL Draft and gets his chance on the back of a five-goal haul in the VFL last weekend.
He joins Cooper Stephens, Ollie Dempsey and Mitch Knevitt as other Cats to debut this year.
"I’m pretty stoked," he said on Friday.
"It has come as a surprise, but I remember Harry Taylor telling me a while ago that it will come when I least expect it, which it did, but I’m ready to soak it all in and focus on tomorrow."
