ESSENDON’S dominance of Casey Demons in last Sunday’s rebel VFLW second semi-final was significant in more ways than one.

While securing their first VFLW Grand Final berth, the Bombers inflicted the single worst day on the Demons since they joined the competition in the 2018.

Casey’s score of 1.3 9 matched the lowest score in its history against Darebin from that first year, while the Bombers’ 11.10 (76) and the 67-point margins are also records that had stood since that same day at Bill Lawry Oval.

The result also gave Essendon leads in its head-to-head records overall, against the Demons at Windy Hill and in finals football and sent Casey behind in finals wins and losses.

Meanwhile, Southern Saints recorded their highest score against Hawthorn and their biggest win at Box Hill City Oval in their first semi-final victory.

The rebel VFLW finals series continues on Sunday with the massive preliminary final between the Demons and Saints at Port Melbourne’s ETU Stadium, with the ball set to bounce at 4.05pm and finish under the Borough’s fantastic new lights, which will be officially opened in the VFL clash between Port and Werribee on Friday night.

The preliminary final will be streamed live on AFL.com.au starting five minutes before the bounce, as well as being able to be heard on www.warfradio.com from 3pm.

It also represents the last opportunity for the players selected to impress AFLW recruiters before the NAB AFL Women’s Draft takes place next Wednesday night.
