The AFL is pleased to confirm the dates and times for Round 23 of the 2022 Toyota AFL Premiership Season.

The final blockbuster round of the home and away season will kick off on Friday night with Brisbane Lions vs. Melbourne at The Gabba.

Saturday night will see Essendon vs. Richmond in battle at the MCG, while all three clashes on a super Sunday have a potential bearing on what the final eight may look like, headlined by the Carlton vs. Collingwood blockbuster.

AFL Executive General Manager Finance, Clubs and Broadcast Travis Auld acknowledged the end of a compelling season of football and thanked fans for their ongoing support.

“Our Round 23 fixture is a fitting conclusion to an exciting season. The top eight is still very much in the balance, and if the matches are anything like what we witnessed last weekend, it’s sure to be one of the best rounds of the season.” Mr Auld said.

“The 2022 season has been more like the game we know and love, a return to the rituals of going to the footy and barracking for our teams but it hasn’t been without its challenges. We want to thank every fan who turned up week after week to support their club and hopefully help them land a coveted spot in the top eight.

“On behalf of the AFL I would like to also thank the 18 clubs, players and the AFLPA, coaches, umpires, officials, broadcasters, venues, corporate partners and all state and territory governments on what has been a sensational season of football so far.

“These nine matchups are a great way to close to the home and away season and a perfect lead into Week One of the 2022 Toyota AFL Finals Series.”
