THE MESSAGE for Tom Green to 'slow down' hasn't come through just yet.

A superb NAB AFL Under-18 Championships campaign with the Allies has seen Green shoot into top-five calculations in the eyes of some recruiters around the country.

Such form is likely to force Greater Western Sydney – where Green is destined to land as an Academy member – in the position to potentially use its multiple first-round selections (currently picks No.9 and No.15) to match a bid for the exciting young prospect.

Not that the Giants seem to mind too much just yet.

"If I'm playing good footy, they're happy," Green told AFL.com.au.

The big-bodied midfielder, who stands at 188cm but has an imposing frame and uses it to thrive in contested situations, was outstanding last week against Vic Metro.

Green collected 33 disposals, 17 contested possessions and nine clearances in the Allies' victory, living up to the comparisons he's drawn with Carlton co-captain Patrick Cripps.

But it's Giants Academy graduates Harry Perryman and Isaac Cumming who have given Green the most guidance, lending him their thoughts throughout a stressful draft year.

"It's less advice, more speaking about their path through this year," Green said.

"You hear about their experience, which has really helped.

"I still train with the Giants Academy back in Canberra, but then throughout the year if I'm playing NEAFL … coaches and people around the club will message me and make sure I'm going alright and I'm tracking well."

THE RUN HOME Is Port too unreliable to play finals?

The hype surrounding Green is growing, particularly after his strong Allies performances.

But for the talented youngster, such excitement doesn't necessarily impact him as it can only mean one thing – that he's doing his job and playing good footy.

"You can't really think too much about that stuff," Green said.

"If you keep playing good footy, it'll keep coming about. Some people may not necessarily enjoy that sort of attention, but I don't really mind it.

"It comes about through one thing, so hopefully I keep playing good footy and it keeps coming."
