MARVEL Stadium CEO Michael Green has conceded the increased patrol of aisles by security may have gone 'too far' in the wake of an outcry of fans this weekend.

Football fans from around the country raised concerns on Saturday night when "Behavioural Awareness Officers" were clearly visible in the crowd during the round 13 clash between the Western Bulldogs and Carlton at Marvel Stadium.

Police were also on hand to break up a post-match fight between fans following the Dogs' thrilling win.

But despite the extra visibility of the officers, Green made it clear that there had been no increase in security numbers at the ground in recent times.

"It is the same level of security as previous years," Green said on 3AW.

"There's been no increase in security presence and numbers."

Green also said they are still searching for the 'right balance between providing a safe environment and not wanting people to feel intimidated' and there has been no directive from the AFL to heighten security.

"Clearly it's reached a point where fans are feeling intimidated by the patrolling of the aisles, and it's something we'll have to review," Green said on SEN.

"Categorically it's a stadium decision. We haven't had any directive (from the AFL).

"We have increased our visibility. Clearly we've gone too far and it's something we’ll review.

"We made a conscious decision to make our fans feel safer by an increase in visibility. We don't want our fans to feel intimidated."
