CASEY Demons draftee Lucy Wales has been announced as a NAB AFLW Rising Star nominee for Round 7.

The 19-year-old was selected by Hawthorn with pick No. 22 in the 2022 NAB AFLW Draft.

She earned her Rising Star nomination after playing an influential role in the Hawks' victory over Port Adelaide at Frankston's Skybus Stadium, where she gathered 10 disposals, had 17 hitouts and laid five tackles as her side notched its third-straight victory with a 4.5 (29) to 1.10 (16) triumph.

Wales entered the AFLW campaign after a stellar season with the Casey Demons in the rebel VFLW.

She averaged 11 disposals, 20 hitouts and 5 tackles across 10 matches and was recognised as a finalist for the Debbie Lee Medal, awarded to the rebel VFLW Rising Star.

Her' twin sister, Stephanie, plays for Essendon's AFLW side and was also a standout performer for the Casey Demons in 2022.

Wales was selected as the Round 7 NAB AFLW Rising Star nominee along with West Coast's Charlie Thomas.

She played junior football with Oakleigh Junior Football Club.
