Several records were set at the 2023 Coates Talent League Girls Testing Day.
More than 350 of Victoria’s most talented young footballers featured in the 2023 Coates Talent League Girls Testing Day at Thornbury’s Narrandjeri Stadium on Sunday.
Among the tests conducted were the standing vertical jump, running vertical jump, 20m sprint, agility test and yo-yo test.
Calder Cannons midfielder Amy Gaylor set a Coates Talent League Girls record on the standing vertical jump, with her 61cm effort eclipsing the previous best set by Maddison Gray last year.
Gaylor also recorded the equal-highest running vertical jump at this year’s testing. Gaylor and Jessica Rentsch from the GWV Rebels both produced a running vertical jump of 73cm.
Sarah Poustie (Oakleigh Chargers) and Nikita Harris (Dandenong Stingrays) equalled the record on the yo-yo test. Both players produced a score of 17.08 on the endurance test, matching Mia Busch’s effort from 2022.
Marlo Cockerill from the Oakleigh Chargers broke the Victorian record for the 20m sprint with a time of 3.151. Her effort eclipsed the previous best of 3.164, which was set by Amber Clarke last year prior to being drafted by Essendon.
The 2023 Coates Talent League Girls season commences on Saturday, March 18.
The opening two rounds of the girls season will feature Victorian country programs, along with Tasmania Devils, GWS Giants Academy and Sydney Swans Academy. The six programs from metropolitan Victoria will play their first game in Round 3.
