Brilliant midfielder Chris Judd won some big awards in season 2004, with each of special significance.

And included amongst the humble 21 year-old’s bevy of accolades was the crown in the Optus SMS Best on Ground Award.

Thanks to elite club sponsor Optus, Judd was presented with a high definition home theatre package valued at $5000 following his landmark season.

But soon after receiving his prize, Judd fired out a lightning handpass to the Cancer Council of WA on behalf of the West Coast Eagles and Optus.

The charity is set to raffle the package with funds raised going towards cancer research.

Spectators at West Coast Eagles home games during the season voted for who they deemed was the best on ground, with votes tallied and displayed on the big screen.

The results saw Judd the clear winner with 29.3% of the votes for the season, from Daniel Kerr with 17.4% and Ashley Sampi with 7%.

Judd’s gesture is the West Coast Eagles’ primary step in its plan to extend its commitment to the Cancer Council of WA in 2005.
