Riewoldt will play his first game since round three after recovering from a hamstring injury.
Voss said he expected to rotate Daniel Merrett, Joel Patfull and Brent Staker on the Saints skipper, but they won’t be preoccupied with testing out his hamstring.
“I don’t know whether you actually try and run Nick around,” Voss said.
“He’s an elite runner; I don’t think that there is going to be too many that can probably outrun him.
“If he is able to get the game on his terms, it will make it difficult. We’ve got to make sure that we get pressure through the middle of the ground.”
The Lions have had just one win from their last 10 games, but have beaten St Kilda by an average of 49 points in their last two encounters at the Gabba.
Voss said the Lions had a side capable of being competitive against the second-placed Saints, who are coming off a six-day break.
“We’ve got a style that matches up pretty well against them,” Voss said.
“We’ve got to make sure that we get our style of footy going, and we need a few players to be able to step up.
“We’ve got to be able to come in with that uncompromising nature and make sure that we put it to them.
“If we just let them run their own race, then they will do what they like to us.”
Brendan Fevola makes his return after missing the Lions' 55-point loss to Carlton with a groin complaint.
Voss said the full forward was training well, though his match form was harder to pick after he managed just one goal and seven disposals against Richmond in round 13.
“I’m not convinced he is in form; he hasn’t played since (the Richmond game),” Voss said.
“He has trained really well, he is up and flying, and he’s had a really good week on the track.”
Two former Saints won't take on their old side on Saturday night. Matt Maguire is still two weeks away with a foot injury, while Xavier Clarke is set to make his return from a long-term knee injury in the reserves on Saturday afternoon.
The Lions are also still without Jonathan Brown (abdominal strain), Jed Adcock (foot) and Josh Drummond (knee).
Voss said the senior players still in the side had been out of form in recent weeks, and needed to improve quickly.
“If we execute well and we do it together and we can operate as the team that we are after, then I’m pretty confident,” Voss said.
