Hawk forward Breust given the all clear after knee scare
Hawks forward gets the all clear after training near miss at Waverley
HAWTHORN forward Luke Breust had a near miss at training on Friday after landing awkwardly on his knee during a long session at Waverley.
The 24-year-old left the track after the incident and consulted fitness staff on the sidelines.
He didn't return to the field, where the players were put through skills and match simulation for nearly three hours in humid conditions, but did stay on the boundary and complete some boxing.
A Hawthorn spokesperson was able to confirm Breust was fine after the scare and had not sustained an injury.
The incident caught the eye of commentator and former North Melbourne player David King, who rattled Hawthorn supporters with a tweet on Friday morning.
Breust lands awkwardly after marking strongly. Taken immediately from field. Hopefully nothing significant. Jarred knee?? #notadoctor
Birchall is expected to start running on Monday but will miss between 4-6 weeks of training and won't be available for the club's first NAB Challenge game.
