GOLD Coast's list transformation is set to receive a major boost with key forward Peter Wright closing in on a contract extension with the Suns.
AFL.com.au understands the 22-year-old could sign a fresh multi-year deal before the start of the home and away season.
Ahead of a season in which he will fall out of contract, Wright faces the prospect of leading a new-look Suns forward line following the departure of Tom Lynch to Richmond.
Wright bagged 31 majors from 22 games in a promising 2017 campaign before managing just seven matches last year due to a combination of form and injury.

The role of the second ruckman for 2019 is also set to revolve heavily around Wright as the back-up to new co-captain Jarrod Witts.
Following the recent departures of Lynch, Steven May, Jaeger O'Meara and Dion Prestia, the Suns have sought to lock away required players on long-term deals.
The Suns have also handed four-year deals to untried state league pair Chris Burgess and Josh Corbett.
The process to re-sign out-of-contract star Jack Martin is expected to be dragged out during the season after his failed attempt to move to Essendon in last year's NAB AFL Trade Period.
Wright has been named alongside No.2 pick Jack Lukosius as the key forwards for the Suns in their JLT Series opener with the Western Bulldogs on Sunday in Mackay.
