The six Victorian-based VFL standalone clubs will take part in a practice match triple-header at Highgate Recreation Reserve this Saturday, February 28.

The fourth annual practice match carnival will see Coburg, Frankston, Port Melbourne, Sandringham, Werribee and Williamstown in action across three matches as clubs ramp up preparations for the 2026 Smithy’s VFL season.

Entry will be FREE, with fans from all clubs encouraged to get along for an action-packed day of football.

The match schedule is as follows:

10:00am - Coburg vs Sandringham
12:45pm - Werribee vs Frankston
3:30pm - Williamstown vs Port Melbourne

The game length for all three matches will be 25-minute quarters with no time-on.

Club memberships for the 2026 season will be on sale, along with merchandise to help supporters get decked out for the upcoming campaign. A range of food and beverage offerings will also be available.

AFL Head of State League Competitions, Jennie Loughnan, said: “The Smithy's VFL Standalones Practice Match Carnival has become a great fixture on the football calendar and we look forward to another great event this year.

"The day gives supporters an opportunity to see a great showcase of football and watch their side finetune ahead of the upcoming Smithy's VFL campaign.

“We encourage all fans to show their support for their club by purchasing a membership for the upcoming season."
