THE AFL wishes to congratulate Brisbane Lions' Lachie Neale ahead of his 300th AFL game on Sunday.

A two-time premiership player and Brownlow Medallist, Neale is set to become the 112th player in VFL/ AFL history to reach 300 games.   

The AFL's Historian has compiled a list of key numbers and achievements across Neale's career:

  • Debuted in Round 4, 2012 against St Kilda. Neale started the game on the bench as the sub. He was subbed into the game midway through the third quarter
  • Neale becomes the fourth player to debut as a sub and go on to reach 300 career games, after Luke Parker, Luke Breust and Dayne Zorko
  • Played 135 games for Fremantle between 2012 and 2018 before being traded to the Brisbane Lions ahead of the 2019 season
  • Premiership player in 2024 and 2025, also played in the 2013 and 2023 Grand Finals

  • Two-time Marcus Ashcroft medallist (best player in Brisbane Lions v Gold Coast SUNS games)
  • Neale is the only person to have won Best on Ground awards for multiple non-Victorian intrastate rivalries.
  • Has played games at 21 different venues. Only David Swallow and Jarrod Witts (22 each) have played at more
  • Dayne Zorko is the only other person in the 300 club to have played at 21 different grounds
  • Neale becomes the 19th person to play 300 VFL/AFL games without having played for a Victorian based club. Joins Luke Power as the only players to have achieved the feat by playing at multiple clubs
  • Has only had two coaches in his career, Ross Lyon and Chris Fagan
  • Played on the winning side in each of his milestone games to date (debut, 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250).  A victory on Sunday will see him become the fifth person to play in wins in all milestone games from debut through game 300
  • Grew up in Kybybolite, a small town in South Australia with a population of around 100 people
  • Neale has played in 25 finals in 10 different finals campaigns. He won the Gary Ayres medal as the best player of the finals in 2024
  • Neale holds the VFL/AFL record for most disposals in a final – 46 in the 2021 Qualifying Final against Melbourne
  • Is the only player left in the competition who has played in a winning final in Geelong
