The Smithy’s VFL teams for Round 7.

Geelong has named star midfielder-forward Gryan Miers for its clash with Collingwood at Victoria Park on Saturday.

Miers, who last played a VFL match in 2022, will play managed minutes as he works his way back through a knee issue which has sidelined him since the Cats’ Round 5 win over the West Coast Eagles in Gather Round.

The Magpies have included Wil Parker, Harvey Harrison and reigning VFL best and fairest Harry Demattia for his first game for the season after overcoming a back issue.

Trent Rivers returns from injury for the Casey Demons' clash with Carlton at Casey Fields, however the Demons will be without promoted defender Jake Bowey, Andy Moniz-Wakefield and Ricky Mentha.

The Blues have included Matt Cottrell and Liam Reidy among three changes, with George Hewett and Billy Wilson recalled to the AFL team following dominant form at VFL level.

North Melbourne has included five AFL-listed players to take on fourth-placed Sydney at Arden Street Oval, with Aidan Corr, Callum Coleman-Jones and Lachy Dovaston among the inclusions.

Wil Dawson and Jacob Konstanty have been recalled to the AFL team, while Darcy Macpherson has been managed and in-form forward James Tarrant has a hamstring issue.

The Swans have made four changes as they hunt a fifth-successive win, with Hayden McLean and Harry Cunningham both earning senior recalls.

Southport and Coburg have both named a star addition for their first game of the season, with Josh Gore and Flynn Gentile named for the Sharks and Lions respectively ahead of their clash at Fankhauser Reserve.

Werribee has made a statement at the selection table, with premiership duo Jay Dahlhaus and Cooper Whyte both omitted for the match against Tasmania at Melbourne Avalon Airport Oval.

The Devils will be without skipper Robbie Fox and defender Zach Adams, who were both injured during last week’s win over Sandringham.

Williamstown regains David Cuningham to take on Richmond at DSV Stadium, however the Seagulls lose Toby Triffett for an extended period with a pectoral injury.

Essendon has made a whopping nine changes for its trip north to take on the GWS Giants at Tom Wills Oval.

Ben McKay headlines the inclusions, with Harry Jones, Jade Gresham and Tom Edwards also among the ins. Jackson Hately will take on his former side after serving a one-match suspension.

The Giants have made five changes to the side that thrashed the Gold Coast Suns in Round 6, however there are no AFL-listed players among the ins. Max Gruzewski, Jake Riccardi and Toby McMullin have all been named in the seniors, while Oskar Taylor has been managed.

Ethan Phillips will play his first game for St Kilda after being approved a transfer from Carlton this week.

The former Fothergill-Round-Mitchell Medal winner is one of five inclusions for the Saints as the clash with Sandringham for the first time since ending their alignment last year.

The Saints and Zebras will play for the Trevor Barker Cup, which was struck up this week in honour of the late legend of both clubs.

Teams for Casey Demons vs Carlton and Williamstown vs Richmond will be announced from 5pm Friday.
