North Melbourne Werribee midfielder Abby Favell has been added to the Kangaroos’ AFLW list for the 2026 NAB AFLW season.
The 23-year-old midfielder was elevated as a replacement player on Wednesday after Amy Smith was placed on the club's inactive list after sustaining a season-ending knee injury.
Favell has been a standout for the Roos’ VFLW team this season, averaging 21 disposals, eight tackles and four clearances across the two-time reigning premiers’ opening five matches.
She currently sits in sixth place on the VFLW Coaches MVP Award voting, having polled 23 votes.
Favell joined the Kangaroos this season from Geelong, where she played 32 games and finished top-five in the Cats’ best and fairest in each of the past three seasons.
She also played two matches for the Box Hill Hawks in 2022.
North Melbourne general manager of women’s football Erin Lorenzini said the Favell’s signing was a credit to how hard she had worked on her craft.
“To have someone of Abby’s quality in our VFLW squad to replace Amy is a testament to our whole program,” Lorenzini told NMFC.com.au
“We’re looking forward to integrating her into the AFLW program.”
North Melbourne Head of VFLW and talent Flynn Loft said Favell had made an immediate impact since joining the club.
“Abby’s made great strides in a short period of time at the club and has worked incredibly hard on and off the field,” Loft said.
“She's shown a willingness to consistently play to her role in our system, which is a quality our AFLW program prides itself on."
Last month Box Hill Hawks ruck Paige Price joined the Gold Coast Suns for the upcoming NAB AFLW season.
