COLEMAN medallist Josh Kennedy cannot break into the starting lineup of the player ratings' version of the Virgin Australia AFL All Australian Team, such is the strength of the side.

Kennedy has been named on the bench with Richmond's Jack Riewoldt and mobile Hawthorn forward Jack Gunston favoured to patrol the forwardline ahead of the Eagles spearhead.

The forward setup is just one of the many team selection topics that are sure to be hotly debated.

The team also consists of two ruckmen with Eagle Nic Naitanui included as support for North Melbourne's Todd Goldstein.

The Official AFL Player Ratings are based upon a sophisticated algorithm, assessing every single action of every player, determining the impact of that action, and providing points – either positive or negative – toward that player's rating compared to his peers.

Along with goals, marks and disposals, intercepts, spoils, kicking to a contest, smothers, chasing, corralling and many other 'one-percenters' - along with where and when they occurred – are calculated to paint a complete picture of ever player's impact on a game.

With that in mind, here is the team selected based on the required minimum of 15 games this year.

The former Magpie was No.1 in the AFL for effective kicks, third for metres gained and fourth for intercept possessions.
