ADELAIDE coach Don Pyke says the Crows will be making modifications to their training program to ensure they fix their hamstring injury curse.

The Crows have had seven players – skipper Taylor Walker, Eddie Betts, Matt Crouch, Sam Gibson, Kyle Hartigan, Kyle Cheney and Lachlan Murphy – have hamstring issues in the first six rounds of the season.

"I don't fear there's going to be any more," Pyke told reporters on Wednesday.

MATCH PREVIEW: Can the Blues stone the Crows?

"We've had a discussion internally about our program about some things we might be doing differently or need to change.

"We think with those modifications, we'll stop having those and the guys that return to play will be fine.

"It's not ideal at the moment, but I'm pretty confident this is just a little phase we go through and in four or five weeks' time, we'll be talking about something different."

Pyke said the workload of his players over the past three years could be a factor.

The Crows have reached at least the second week of the finals since 2015, and have used the least amount of players (29 in 2016 and 31 last year) in the past two seasons.

"It's all in the hopper, it's not one thing, and it's not one thing for each individual," Pyke said.

"It's quite different because they are slightly different methods around the injury as well.

"It's not as simple as, 'It's this, and we have to change it'.

"It's a myriad of things.

"Right now, we've got a situation where we need to make some changes to avoid this continuing, but we're really comfortable we're in a good space to do that."

After missing two weeks, Betts looks set to return to face Carlton at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night.

Walker, vice-captain Rory Sloane (foot), defender Jake Kelly (hand) and midfielder David Mackay (glute) will also have to get through the team's main training session on Wednesday afternoon.

WATCH: Taylor Walker feels the strain

Walker is in the most doubt after sitting out the second half of last Saturday night's win against Gold Coast with hamstring awareness.

"It's a short turnaround (for a hamstring injury), we'll take no risk with him, but we'll see how he trains tonight," Pyke said.

"Don't know (with Sloane), he's super keen and wants to play. We'll see how he trains tonight and what his movement is like and make sure we're not guided by his desire to play, versus his injury, but I'll be confident with him.

"He's got some ligament stuff (in the foot) that hasn't settled down after the Richmond game."

Pyke said Kelly had a tiny crack in his hand, but was confident he would return, while Mackay was back running on Monday after failing to finish the Suns' game.
