AFL Statement

THE AFL advises the Match Review of the remaining games from Saturday and Sunday of round one have now been completed. The following charges have been laid with one other incident requiring explanation.
 
Charges Laid:
Tom Jonas, Port Adelaide, has been charged with engaging in Rough Conduct against Max Gawn, Melbourne during the second quarter of the Round One match between Melbourne and Port Adelaide, played at the MCG on Saturday March 23.

Incidents assessed:
The match day report laid against St Kilda’s Jade Gresham for contact on Gold Coast SUNS’ Wil Powell from the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game was assessed. The ball spills free near the 50-metre arc for Gold Coast, Powell approaches the contest with his hands down preparing to pick the ball up. Gresham approaches the contest from the opposite direction and makes high contact with Powell. It was the view of the MRO that while it was a careless action, the force was insufficient to constitute a charge. No further action was taken.

Liam Jones, Carlton, has been charged with engaging in Rough Conduct against Jack Riewoldt, Richmond during the second quarter of the Round One match between Carlton and Richmond, played at the MCG on Thursday March 21, 2019.
