Greene was involved in a series of offences involving Marcus Bontempelli. He is understood to have made contact with his fingers to the region around Bontempelli’s eyes, dug his forearm into his head and also appears at one stage to pull the hair of the Western Bulldogs midfielder.

Greene was charged for the totality of the incidents, not one single offence, leaving him at serious risk of a suspension and potentially missing his side's semi-final showdown with Brisbane at the Gabba next Saturday night.

The highly talented forward has a chequered Match Review history, which includes 16 guilty charges, six matches worth of suspensions and $18,850 worth of fines.

Greene's referral followed a clash where the Giants appeared to physically target Bontempelli, with forward Harry Himmelberg also fined $2000 for striking the Western Bulldogs superstar in the midriff during the first quarter.

That particular hit was graded by Michael Christian as intentional conduct with low impact to the body, with Bontempelli winded as a result of the blow.

Western Bulldogs pair Zaine Cordy and Matt Suckling were also fined $2000 each during the spiteful encounter, with Cordy charged with striking Matt de Boer and Suckling cited for forceful front-on contact with Josh Kelly.

Elsewhere, Richmond defender Dylan Grimes has been fined $1000 for staging after appearing to exaggerate contact to reverse a free-kick when shoved by Eric Hipwood on Saturday night.

Brisbane midfielder Dayne Zorko similarly copped a $1000 staging fine later in the same game.
