FORMER Greater Western Sydney captain Phil Davis hasn't watched a replay of his side's horror Grand Final loss to Richmond but he's confident the Giants won't have any mental scars from the hefty defeat.

Trailing by just seven points at quarter-time, the Giants conceded 15 of the next 17 goals on their way to an 89-point hiding – 17.12 (114) to 3.7 (25) – at the hands of the rampant Tigers in the decider.

Davis said there were lessons the Giants would take out of the game, however he is yet to put himself through the torture of trawling back through the vision.

"I haven't watched it yet, it's not on my top-five to watch list," Davis told FIVEaa radio.

"We'll definitely cut pieces out of it in terms of how we can get better as a team.

"You've got to do a fair bit right to get to the Grand Final and our last three quarters were disappointing and Richmond were way too good on the day.

"We have to live with that."

The Giants have reloaded in their quest to go one step better next season, adding veteran Adelaide ruckman Sam Jacobs.

They also picked up dashing defender Lachie Ash with the fourth overall pick at last month's NAB AFL Draft, along with highly rated Giants academy product Tom Green at pick No.10.

"We're a pretty hungry group, one that's ready to get better and improve and chase that extra victory when it really matters," Davis said.

"I think we have recovered.

"We'll develop our game and our style as a team.

"We've been able to maintain the list plus add in Sam Jacobs.

"I feel we're in a really good place and we're hungry and ambitious for some more success."

Davis and fellow ex-skipper Callan Ward led the Giants for their first eight AFL seasons before handing the captaincy to Stephen Coniglio this week.

The Giants are heading to the Sunshine Coast for a pre-season training camp, basing themselves at Noosa and Maroochydore, from December 10-16.
