TOBY Nankervis is among a trio of Richmond premiership stars who will miss out on valuable practice match time this weekend.

The dual premiership ruckman was to feature in an unofficial scratch match against Coburg at Punt Road on Friday night, alongside Kamdyn McIntosh and Jack Graham, but that game has been called off due to coronavirus fears.

Nankervis has been battling an adductor injury, which kept him out of the side's two Marsh Community Series matches over the last fortnight.

McIntosh (ankle) and Graham (shoulder) also missed the Marsh Community Series.

Meanwhile, Geelong midfielder Mitch Duncan will be vying to prove his fitness for round one, with the experienced Cats star to line up in a VFL practice match against Werribee on Friday night.

This game, at the moment, is set to go ahead.

Duncan is unlikely to feature against Greater Western Sydney in round one next week, having battled a hip complaint throughout the summer. However, he could spark what would be a miraculous return with a promising display at Deakin University.

Young defensive duo Jack Henry and Mark O'Connor will also get their chance to press for a round one spot, having played only a half in the Marsh Community Series clash with Essendon in Colac on Monday.

Lachie Henderson and Brad Close are the other senior-listed Cats players to be named in the VFL side, though neither appear likely to feature against the Giants on the first Saturday night of the season.

Geelong will also undergo a full match simulation drill at its main training session on Saturday, where captain Joel Selwood will be put through his paces as he recovers from a hamstring injury.

Sydney forward Sam Reid will also get his chance to prove his fitness for round one, taking part in a NEAFL practice match with Sydney University scheduled for Saturday morning.

Reid has been battling a calf injury, but will take part in the scratch match alongside a number of Swans-listed players including George Hewett and Ben Ronke as well as youngsters Will Gould, Chad Warner, Matthew Ling and Justin McInerney.

The Northern Blues team that narrowly defeated Frankston in a VFL practice match on Thursday night featured no Carlton-listed players, while Casey's clash against Port Melbourne meant for Saturday has been cancelled due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

West Coast will hold an internal trial match on Friday, but will not put its players to the test in WAFL practice matches.
