- Fire up the Draft Machine and pick your club's next star

AFTER starting this year as the likely No.1 draft selection in the eyes of some, the projection isn't quite as bright for Peter Wright.

He might not be a top five selection and might only just crack it for the top 10 at next week's NAB AFL Draft, but the Calder Cannons giant tuned out on the media months ago.

Speaking on SEN 1116 on Tuesday, Wright said he initially paid attention to the endless mock drafts and draft profiles that populate the media.

"At the start of the year I did, but then I put too much pressure on myself, so instead I concentrated on what my coaches said and what they want me to do on match days," he said.

One reason for Wright's slight dip was a few injuries over the course of the season, but he is now back to full fitness.

"Over last few years I was unlucky with back and hamstring injuries, but now my body is feeling good and I'm ready to go."

Where exactly he will go remains to be seen and while the Collingwood supporter admitted that remaining in Victoria would be preferable, he will happily hit the road and play for whichever club calls his name.

"I want to get to a strong club and make an impression there," he said. "Once you are at a new club it starts again."

At 203cm, Wright has been earmarked as a pure ruckman but he hopes to be more versatile than that.

"Predominantly, I'm a forward who can provide relief in the ruck. That's where I provide my best footy," he said.
