ADELAIDE has dropped veteran midfielder Bryce Gibbs for the third time this season as the Crows continue to be ruthless at selection.

Gibbs scored a late reprieve on the second of those occasions and has appeared just once in the SANFL in 2019, but he looks headed there again, along with surprise axing Hugh Greenwood.

The big calls come ahead of Saturday's Adelaide Oval litmus test against red-hot Greater Western Sydney, which regains defenders Zac Williams and Sam Taylor.

Lachie Whitfield (broken collarbone) and Lachie Keeffe (omitted) are the outgoing Giants.

Greenwood was a slow starter against Melbourne, but helped the Crows rally for a come-from-behind win, while Gibbs kept Demon Clayton Oliver to just two disposals in the third quarter.

Gibbs, Greenwood and David Mackay make way for returning trio Matt Crouch, Richard Douglas and Kyle Hartigan, who was a late withdrawal for team balance reasons last week.

Elsewhere, Dan Rioli – who's twice been dropped to the VFL this year – is back for Richmond's Friday night match against Geelong.

The Tigers have also selected Patrick Naish, son of Chris, for his AFL debut, with Jacob Townsend and Jack Graham rounding out the four additions.

David Astbury (hamstring) and Brandon Ellis (groin) were unavailable, but Richmond dropped Nathan Broad and Shai Bolton.

Gary Ablett and Rhys Stanley give the Cats two quality inclusions, in place of James Parsons and Zac Smith.

Experienced Blue Dale Thomas' time in VFL purgatory has lasted just one week, recalled along with Kade Simpson, Mitch McGovern and Lochie O'Brien to face Brisbane on Saturday.

Alex Fasolo and Matthew Kennedy are back in the VFL, while Liam Stocker and Darcy Lang are injured.

Jacob Allison is the Lions' sole in, for Ben Keays.

Gold Coast will welcome back club champion Jarrod Harbrow, vice-captain Touk Miller and top-10 pick Will Brodie for Saturday's home clash with North Melbourne.

Going out of the side are injured pair Jack Bowes (quad) and Josh Schoenfeld (knee), as well as omitted recruit George Horlin-Smith.

The Kangaroos promoted Sam Durdin for his second game for the year, with fellow defender Jamie Macmillan failing to recover from a calf injury.

THE TIPS ARE IN Our reporters find you a winner

Darcy Cameron, Jackson Thurlow, James Rose, James Rowbottom and Ryley Stoddart are jockeying for spots at Sydney for Sunday's meeting with West Coast at the SCG.

Robbie Fox (ankle) is the sole confirmed out at this stage, while the Eagles lost Shannon Hurn and Oscar Allen to injuries.

They are set to choose from Tom Hickey, Jackson Nelson, Josh Rotham, potential debutant Jarrod Cameron – brother of Charlie – Brendon Ah Chee and Josh Smith.

Brayden Sier is in pole position to replace injured Collingwood star Dayne Beams for Monday's annual Queen's Birthday blockbuster with Melbourne at the MCG.

Sier's suffered the most since Beams' arrival from Brisbane, but his time may have come now the gun midfielder is set to miss much of the season recovering from hip surgery.

Mason Cox, top-20 draftee Isaac Quaynor – who is yet to make his AFL debut – Josh Daicos and Ben Crocker are also in the mix to play.

The Demons could receive a welcome injection of talent, with Steven May and Jake Lever in line to play, on top of Marty Hore, Christian Salem, Braydon Preuss and Alex Neal-Bullen.

Melbourne will make at least two changes, having dropped Jay Kennedy Harris and Oscar McDonald.
