ADELAIDE has re-signed two of its most promising young players, with Rory Sloane and Jared Petrenko both agreeing to new deals with the club.

The 20-year-old Sloane has played nine games for the Crows since being selected with pick No.44 in the 2008 NAB AFL Draft.

The tough onballer kicked two crucial goals in the Adelaide’s upset win over Geelong last Friday night, and has already been earmarked as a future leader.

Petrenko, also 20, started his career on Adelaide’s rookie list, but was promoted to the senior list for the start of the 2009 season.

The former Woodville-West Torrens junior has played 21 games, including 12 this season, but is likely to miss the rest of the year with a broken foot.

Football manager Phil Harper said the club was pleased to have secured the services of the talented pair.

“Rory and Jared were keen to recommit as they see a bright future with their mates here at West Lakes. We remain in discussion with several other players and their managers and will advise when any of these negotiations are finalised,” Harper said.

Young tyro Patrick Dangerfield has also expressed a desire to remain at West Lakes, while the Crows are also confident they can retain star trio Nathan Bock, Graham Johncock and Scott Thompson.

Forward Chris Knights is another key player yet to re-sign with the club.
