PORT Adelaide may thwart Ben Jacobs' plans to find a new AFL home in his native Victoria, with the Power saying they will consider re-claiming the defender/midfielder at the NAB AFL Draft on November 22.
Jacobs officially walked out on Port on Friday afternoon after advising the AFL he was nominating for the draft and would stipulate his salary terms.
But the Power responded in a statement on their website, saying they would "consider the possibility" of drafting Jacobs again.

Jacobs, the No.16 pick in the 2010 draft, sought a trade to North Melbourne in last month's trade period, but a deal could not be done with the Power demanding North's first-round draft pick, No.15, and the Roos only prepared to offer their second-round pick, No.38.
The Power then tried to convince the out-of-contract Jacobs to extend his career at Alberton Oval beyond two seasons and 26 games. But Jacobs ultimately nominated for the draft in the hope of returning to Victoria to be with his girlfriend and family.
Port football manager Peter Rohde said the club had no regrets over its hardline stance during the trade period.
"We might lose Ben and if we do we hope it works out very well for him," Rohde said.
"But it won’t always work that way for a player and we’ve stood firm as a club to make our position clear to everyone."
AFL.com.au understands North remains Jacobs' preferred new home. Given the Roos' trade period stance, they will presumably be hoping to snare the midfielder in the draft with pick No. 38.
Significantly, Port has two earlier second-round picks than North, No.30 and 31, which it received as compensation for losing free agents Danyle Pearce and Troy Chaplin to Fremantle and Richmond respectively.
The Roos' chances of claiming Jacobs are also clouded by the interest shown in him during the trade period by the Western Bulldogs, St Kilda and Essendon, all of whom have picks between the Roos' first- and second-round selections.
