Since notifying Carlton that Brendan Fevola was involved in an incident while with the Australian International Rules team in Ireland, the AFL has issued a statement concerning the incident and confirmed the AFL Disciplinary Committee met with Brendan and suspended him from the Second Test against Ireland and immediately removed him from the tour party. The AFL confirmed from Ireland that Brendan had offered a full unconditional apology for his actions. The Carlton Football Club views this matter very seriously and we are extremely disappointed with Brendan’s unacceptable behaviour, particularly after his hard work over the last 12 months to ensure he was a positive ambassador for Carlton and the AFL.As Brendan is representing the AFL and as there are no Carlton officials in Ireland, it is appropriate the matter has been investigated by the AFL and in doing so the AFL has issued the penalties. We will be discussing the matter with Brendan on his return to training later this month.Carlton’s pre-season training will commence on Monday November 6th and while the three International Rules representatives (Brendan Fevola, Matthew Lappin and Kade Simpson) are not due to commence training until November 20th, as a result of this incident, we expect Brendan to commence training earlier than this.
