Griffin, 23, is the only specialist ruckman in the All-Stars team.
The Crows, on the other hand, boast five big men - Ivan Maric, Kurt Tippett, Brad Moran, James Sellar and Shaun McKernan - over the 195cm height-mark.
On Wednesday, All-Stars coach Chris Johnson remained coy about his side’s back-up ruck plan.
“There will be a few different guys that get a chance to play in the ruck and we’ll try to mix it up as much as we can,” Johnson said in Darwin.
“We’ve got a couple of things up our sleeve and [Adelaide coach] Neil Craig has been kind enough to agree that when we bring our ruckmen off, he’ll bring his ruckmen off so that it’s an even contest and we don’t put any players in jeopardy.
“Griff [Griffin] will only play about half of the game and, as a ruckman, you can’t expect him to play the whole game because it would just be too hard for him.
“You have to be able to rotate your ruckman and that’s going to be a tough challenge for us.”
Melbourne recruit Liam Jurrah (193cm) was the All-Stars’ next tallest player, behind Griffin, but was forced to withdraw from the squad because of conditioning.
Johnson said the coaches would be act sensibly in regards to which players were thrust into the ruck role.
“We’ve got Brennan Stack and Josh Hill from the Western Bulldogs. Actually our second tallest player is Shaun Burgoyne, but there’s no chance he’ll be playing in the ruck,” Johnson said.
“We won’t just be throwing anyone in there. We’ll give everyone the opportunity to play their best footy.”
Griffin, who has recovered from a long-term hip injury, slipped down the ruck pecking order at Adelaide last season and said he was looking forward to the challenge of upstaging his sparring partners.
“At the moment, our ruck duels are pretty competitive at club-level. It’s going to be good to have a proper hit-out against each other and if Craigy is willing to pull the big guys off when I go off, it’s a good thing and will keep the game interesting,” Griffin said.
“I don’t have a clue who is going to back me up, but I’m willing to give out a few tips and help them out as much as I can.
“I’m looking forward to playing against my teammates and playing alongside all the other boys.”
The All-Stars are also lacking key-position players, but Griffin was confident of being able to act in that role as well.
“I’ll definitely be trying to sneak in a few goals against a couple of the boys on Saturday night,” he said.
“We lack a bit of size, but we don’t lack speed, so it’s going to be good. We have taken some of the quickest guys in the team, so it will be good to see how the Crows boys go against us.”
