GEELONG star Cameron Ling and Fremantle defender Antoni Grover are both free to play this weekend after each accepted reprimands from the AFL’s Match Review Panel on Tuesday morning.

Both players were booked on striking charges during Sunday’s clash at Subiaco and risked the prospect of suspension had they chosen to fight their reports at the AFL Tribunal.

However their clubs have opted to ensure their men are free to line up this weekend, meaning both Ling and Grover will be forced to carry demerit points for the next 12 months.

Ling had been charged with a level two striking offence for his third-quarter stomach punch to young Fremantle defender Nick Suban.

His early guilty plea means he is available to play Port Adelaide this weekend, but he must carry 70.31 demerit points towards his future record.

Grover was booked for an off-the-ball incident involving Steve Johnson. Like Ling, he accepted a reprimand but will carry 93.75 points for the next 12 months as he did not have a good or bad record.

Grover is now free to tackle Collingwood at the MCG on Saturday.

The Tribunal will not sit at all on Tuesday night, with Fremantle youngster Matt De Boer also choosing to accept a $1950 fine for making negligent contact with an umpire.

The trio’s decision to accept their sanctions comes on top of Essendon midfielder Mark McVeigh’s decision on Monday to cop a one-week ban for striking.

He will miss Friday night’s blockbuster with Carlton.
