WESTERN Bulldogs coach Rodney Eade has faith that beleaguered Sydney Swans forward Barry Hall can overcome his personal problems and return as a star of the game.
Eade coached Hall at the Swans for the first half of 2002, after Hall had crossed from the Saints and before Paul Roos took charge of the side.
"Watching him on telly last night he seemed to be in a jovial mood on the track," Eade said on Thursday.
"I think Barry has got a lot to offer.
"I think he's still going to be a good player in the competition and I've got no doubt he'll get through this."
Hall returned to training with the Swans on Wednesday, two days after accepting a charge for attempting to strike Collingwood's Shane Wakelin in last Saturday night's clash at ANZ Stadium.
The 31-year-old also stood down from the Swans' leadership group, with club psychologist Grant Brecht deeming Hall unfit to play until further notice.
Hall was also suspended for seven matches for striking West Coast's Brent Staker in round four.
