ADELAIDE defender Ben Rutten is confident he has recovered sufficiently from a back injury to take his place in the Dream Team for the Hall of Fame Tribute match this Saturday night.

Rutten, 24, suffered bruising to his back and buttocks against the Blues two weeks ago and missed the Crows' clash with North Melbourne on Saturday night.

"It's a little bit slow but it's just a bit of bruising," he said before the Dream Team’s first official training session at the MCG on Wednesday.

"I'll wait for that to clear to out and hopefully I should be right. I'll have a run this afternoon and then I'll hopefully be good.

"I haven't done a great deal of training yet so I'll train and see how it is. [The injury] was probably going to hang around for a couple of weeks. It's just something I should be able to manage."

While Rutten’s fitness is still in question, his enthusiasm is not.

"I'm really keen [to play]," he said.

"It's exciting to be named in a side like this and to play with some of the guys that are here, and against them, is going to be amazing.

"There's a lot of players [I'm looking forward to playing with], like Richo (Richmond’s Matthew Richardson. When I was growing up, I was watching [players like him]," he said.

"To play with him and Pav (Fremantle’s Matthew Pavlich) and those sorts of guys, it will be a great honour."
