ADELAIDE could be forced to rely on small forwards kicking a score against Geelong this weekend as its tall marking stocks succumb to injury.

The Crows moved to a 2-1 record following their come-from-behind victory over Fremantle on Sunday, but the win was soured by the potential loss of two key position players.

Forward Nick Gill is certain to miss Saturday night's clash with the Cats while Scott Stevens is not certain to take the field after being stretchered off with concussion.

Crows football manager John Reid said Gill injured himself in the final minutes of the match.

"He'd be just a standard sort of hamstring and miss two or three weeks," Reid told afl.com.au on Monday morning.

The Crows will be hoping Stevens, who has proved to be a valuable goalkicker during the past 12 months, proves his fitness in the coming days.

And Reid was optimistic the 27-year-old would be cleared to take on the Cats.

"He's actually woken up reasonably well this morning; hopefully he may come up," he said.

"There's no bone damage or anything, the doctors are very comfortable with that ... he'll just be assessed from a concussion perspective."

Reid also played down a pre-game injury scare to Nathan van Berlo before Sunday's win over Fremantle.

"He was having a [swim on Saturday] and something stung him; he didn't know what it was," Reid said.

"For a couple of minutes it was very painful. For a few minutes he was a bit panicky but it turned out there was no effect and it didn't worry him.

"He was good as gold."
