WEST Coast forward Josh Kennedy admits he was a little lucky to be paid the mark that led to his match-winning goal against Richmond, but he's adamant the ball travelled the necessary 15 metres.
Debate has raged about the distance of Liam Ryan's pass ever since Kennedy nailed the snap with 40 seconds to go that sunk the tigers by four points last Sunday night.
A measurement of the kick broadcast on Fox Footy placed it at 14.5 metres - 50 centimetres short of what is required under official rules for a mark to be paid (watch the pass in the player below).
Kennedy says it travelled the necessary distance but understands the umpires could have easily thought otherwise.
"They're the ones that sometimes they call play on, sometimes they don't. I was quite lucky in the end," Kennedy told 6PR.
"I felt like it was 15m and the umpire called it 15m, so we'll take it.
"(Kicking the goal) was something that I will never forget. The crowd was up and about, it was pretty loud.
"Credit to the boys up the field to be able to transition the footy like they did, and they gave us the opportunity to have the shot.

"It was those boys up there, especially Shannon Hurn taking those marks, that saved us in the end."
The win improved West Coast's record to 8-5 and kept them in the hunt for the top four heading into their bye week.
Captain Luke Shuey will press his claims for a recall when he lines up for West Coast's WAFL side against Subiaco at Leederville Oval on Saturday.
Shuey, who underwent hamstring surgery after the round three win over Port Adelaide, has trained strongly in recent weeks and is expected to be on limited minutes when he lines up against Subiaco.
Fellow midfield bull Elliot Yeo (osteitis pubis) only played one WAFL game before being parachuted into the senior side, and Shuey could follow suit if his return is successful.
West Coast are further set to be boosted by the return of a host of stars for the June 27 home clash with the Western Bulldogs.
Brad Sheppard will return from concussion, while Jeremy McGovern (knee), Tim Kelly (knee), Alex Witherden (groin), Brendon Ah Chee (calf), Shuey and Jack Petruccelle (hamstring) could also be available.
