ADELAIDE has suffered a blow on the eve of the season with wingman Paul Seedsman ruled out of round one against Hawthorn.

The 27-year-old underwent surgery on Friday to repair a fractured finger sustained in a tackling drill at training on Thursday.

While the Crows will reassess his injury ahead of round two, Seedsman is no certainty to travel to face Sydney to face the Swans.

"Displacement of the small bone fragment is sufficient to warrant surgical intervention to ensure the long-term function of his finger," Crows science and medical services coordinator Steve Saunders said.

Seedsman joins defender Luke Brown on the sidelines for the clash with the Hawks.

Jordan Gallucci (foot), Elliott Himmelberg (foot), Andrew McPherson (groin) and Shane McAdam will all face fitness tests ahead of a SANFL trial game next Friday.
