GOLD Coast has presented to Jack Martin as it hopes to retain the out-of-contract midfielder.

Martin, who tried unsuccessfully last year to be traded by the Suns, will decide on his future at the end of the season.

The Suns have grown more confident across the year that the West Australian will remain with the club next season and beyond, however he has put off a decision until after the club's 2019 campaign is finished.

AFL.com.au understands club officials have met with Martin and his girlfriend and put forward their plans for the future as the Suns look to climb off the bottom of the ladder.

At the start of the season, Martin and the club agreed to park contract talks until the second half of the year.

However, after the 24-year-old missed three weeks with a finger injury and only returned to the Suns' line-up against Collingwood on Sunday, Martin decided to wait until after Gold Coast's season to decide on his plans for next year.

Carlton and Essendon were linked to Martin last year, while AFL.com.au in April reported St Kilda's interest in the classy playmaker ahead of this season's NAB AFL Trade Period.

Martin is considered a stronger chance to stay at the club than he was at the beginning of this season, but he remains undecided.

Having joined the club as a pick from the 'mini draft' at the end of 2012, he has been a regular for the Suns through their midfield and forward line.

He is due to play his 100th game for Gold Coast in round 23, having been quiet in his return to the side in the Suns' loss to the Magpies, gathering just eight disposals and a goal.

Callum Ah Chee, who was a top-10 pick in 2015, also remains unsigned heading into the off-season. Ah Chee has managed just one senior game this season in an injury-impacted season.

The Suns have been locking away some of their important young players to new deals, recently signing Jack Bowes and Ben Ainsworth long-term before they were due to fall out of contract next year.

Exciting youngster Izak Rankine has yet to debut but has signed a two-year contract extension, while the club will work over the off-season to add two years to the contracts of fellow top-10 picks Jack Lukosius and Ben King, who were both excellent against the Magpies.

Key forward Sam Day re-signed last month for two seasons after resisting the option of free agency.
